Pace Makers Run Club

Pace Makers Run Club is a running community built by and for healthcare workers, welcoming everyone from first-time runners to experienced racers. Recognising the demands of shift work, the club schedules sessions to accommodate early starts, late finishes and night shifts, with upcoming runs posted in advance. Its flagship weekly gathering is a Saturday 5K in Central Park, meeting at the Maine Monument by the Columbus Circle entrance.

Sessions adapt to who attends, using walk/run intervals or conversational running and pace groups where needed. A leader stays at the back so participants can run without being left behind, and the group often meets for coffee afterward. The club also offers a beginner’s guide with practical advice on getting started, clothing, fueling around night shifts and building up gradually.

Its phone-friendly walk/run timer lets users set custom intervals without downloading an app. There is no fee, and participants can simply turn up in what they own. Members can connect through Strava and Instagram, while an optional weekly email shares updates
