The Pacific Rim Whale Festival Society is a dedicated non-profit organization that has celebrated the majestic Grey Whale migration for over 30 years. Established by a passionate group of citizens in British Columbia, the festival aims to raise awareness of the region's pristine ecosystems, the plight of endangered Grey Whales, and cherished coastal traditions. Each spring, the festival brings together locals and visitors for a vibrant celebration, featuring various events such as the popular Chowder Chowdown, where participants compete for the best seafood chowder.
The festival is a tribute to the annual journey of over 14,500 migrating Grey Whales, providing opportunities for whale watching and fostering community engagement. Throughout its history, the festival has transitioned from a volunteer-driven initiative to an organized society, all while being anchored in community spirit and collaboration. The Pacific Rim Whale Festival also offers resources for volunteering, sponsorship, and event hosting, encouraging everyone to participate in the conservation and celebration of marine life. Join the festivities and connect with nature at this remarkable event in Tofino and Ucluelet.
