Technology abundance is not mission advantage. Defense leaders have access to more commercial technology than ever. The harder problem is determining what will work in the intended environment—and carrying the right solution through delivery. PIZ decomposes the mission problem, assembles the right technical team, validates the solution under real conditions, and manages execution

Pacific Impact Zone (PIZ) is a defense mission solutions organization headquartered in Hawai‘i, working nationwide to help defense leaders turn complex operational needs into delivered capabilities. Rather than starting with a product, PIZ breaks down the mission, operating environment, uncertainties, and execution risks, then brings together relevant commercial technologies, technical expertise, and delivery partners. Its work includes assessing solutions and validating them under real conditions, with accountability extending from problem definition through delivery.
PIZ develops purpose-built programs for recurring mission challenges. COLOSSEUM supports software experimentation under real mission conditions, while VERITY aims to improve manufacturing and repair resilience in contested environments. Its supporting initiatives include Defense Innovation OnRampHub, which provides awareness and access for first-time commercial innovators, and APEX PIA, focused on competitive readiness for small and non-traditional contractors. PIZ also conducts field experiments and operational demonstrations involving expeditionary power, advanced manufacturing, and contested logistics. Having served more than 30 defense mission partners and engaged over 500 commercial industry partners, PIZ draws on an Indo-Pacific vantage point shaped by distance, logistics, interoperability, and distributed operations.
