Paddlers For Life

Paddlers for Life Windermere is a charitable incorporated organisation and cancer survivor paddling team based at Low Wood Watersports Centre on Windermere, near Ambleside in Cumbria, UK. Its members include people who have experienced cancer, particularly breast cancer, as well as their family members, friends and supporters. The charity promotes physical activity, recreation, health and wellbeing for people affected by cancer, including those recovering from treatment.

The team paddles dragon boats and a Tahitian V6 outrigger canoe, welcoming cancer survivors and their families and friends to take part. Sessions run from April to October, weather permitting, and offer opportunities to exercise, enjoy time on the water, build friendships and share supportive experiences. Paddlers for Life Windermere also attends UK regattas and international festivals, supports local community fundraisers, and provides information and resources about the team and its activities. Its aims include raising awareness, demonstrating that people can lead active lives after breast cancer, and offering fellowship through paddling.
