About PADOS Studio Theatre
PADOS Studio Theatre | Prestwich has a rich history dating back to 1918, with over 100 years of putting on exceptional theatre in the Prestwich community. The society's origins can be traced back to the St. Hilda's Glee Club of Heaton Park, which celebrated the end of World War I by welcoming back men from the Western Front.
Throughout World War II, the society continued to entertain with all-female casts. It is believed that the Prestwich Amateur Dramatic Society (PADS) merged with the Glee Club to form the Prestwich and District Operatic Society (PADOS). Over the years, PADOS Studio Theatre has performed at various esteemed venues, including The Victoria Theatre in Salford, where they captivated audiences for 13 enchanting years.
A significant milestone took place in 1976 when the society secured a lease on the former Prestwich Library, which became their beloved rehearsal headquarters, social hub, and workshop. Despite a devastating fire in 1991, the indomitable spirit of the members prevailed, leading to the transformation of the ashes into the intimate PADOS Studio Theatre we know today. PADOS Studio Theatre now proudly features an Adult group, showcasing captivating plays each season, a grand musical production at the prestigious Bury Met Theatre, a vibrant Junior group (ages 7-11 years), and an exciting Youth group (ages 12 to 18 years).
The committee includes individuals who began their journey in the Youth Group, ensuring that the spirit of PADOS is kept alive for future audiences and members to come
