About Painshill
Painshill is a brand that encompasses an 18th-century landscape garden located in Cobham, Surrey. This historic garden, created between 1738 and 1773 by the Hon. Charles Hamilton, offers visitors breathtaking and surprising vistas.
Inspired by landscape paintings and his Grand Tours across Europe, Hamilton designed Painshill as a living work of art. The garden features a series of stunning landscapes adorned with follies strategically placed for dramatic effect. Today, Painshill is England's most elegant 18th-century landscape garden, attracting around 250,000 visitors annually.
In 1981, the Painshill Park Trust was established as an independent charity and restoration project to restore the garden to its original state. The dedicated team of staff and volunteers at the trust work tirelessly to preserve the history and heritage of Hamilton's vision. Painshill is proud to have His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, as a Royal Patron and has received The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
Whether you're interested in history, art, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the landscape, Painshill is a must-visit destination
