About Pajhra
Pajhra | Tezpur, meaning life spring in the Adivasia (Sadri) language, is a brand dedicated to the Promotion and Advancement of Justice, Harmony, and Rights of Adivasis. Founded in November 2001 and formalized on April 9th, 2002, Pajhra aims to empower the Adivasi community in Assam. The Adivasis, forcibly brought by the British in the 18th century to work in tea plantations, continue to face marginalization and limited access to their entitlements.
Pajhra strives to improve their socio-economic status and promote social integration within the society. To achieve this, Pajhra focuses on various areas such as empowering Adivasi women and promoting their leadership, addressing human trafficking, enhancing Adivasi youth's education, preserving Adivasi culture and language, and providing disaster management training. Through capacity building and multi-stakeholder dialogue, Pajhra brings individuals and groups together to tackle community challenges.
Their ultimate goal is to enable the Adivasi community to promote their own development and well-being. Learn more about Pajhra's initiatives and find job opportunities on their website. Join them in their mission to uplift the Adivasi community in Assam
