Pal

The Palestinian Animal League (PAL) is a leading local animal welfare organization operating in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Their vision is to create a future where animal protection is a priority for civil society, animal welfare problems are addressed effectively and humanely, and a culture of compassion for all living beings is embraced by society. PAL achieves their vision through a multi-dimensional approach, working closely with governmental institutions and inspiring and empowering Palestinian citizens.

They engage in direct lobbying to influence animal-related legislation and advocate for and educate society about animal welfare issues. PAL's work includes regulating pet shops and pet farms, developing and activating animal protection laws, incorporating animal welfare principles in school curriculums, and establishing a network of organizations focused on animal protection. They also aim to inspire compassion and a sense of responsibility towards stray animals, change attitudes towards Palestinian ‘Baladi’ dogs, and empower youth ambassadors to drive positive change in society.

PAL helps companion animals by promoting sustainable animal population control measures, encouraging responsible pet ownership, and changing negative attitudes towards the national Palestinian dog breed. Additionally, PAL provides resources to communities for responsible ownership and care of working animals, lobbies for increased animal welfare regulations for working animals, and advocates for comprehensive animal welfare content in veterinary school syllabuses. They also work to increase awareness of the suffering resulting from the food system and promote the reduction of animal product consumption.

PAL aims to increase regulations on the animal products industry and raise awareness of the sentience of farmed animals. To support PAL's important work, you can make a donation or volunteer your time and expertise. Donations can be made through a secured link, and volunteers can fill out a volunteer form on their website.
