The Palestine Festival of Literature (PalFest) is a dynamic cultural initiative dedicated to fostering dialogue and creativity to combat colonialism in the 21st century. Established in 2008 by renowned cultural figures, including founding chair Ahdaf Soueif, PalFest champions Palestinian voices by organizing an annual festival that brings together international authors and local Palestinian writers for a series of free public events across various cities in Palestine. The festival offers a unique blend of artistic exploration, education, and cultural exchange, featuring workshops, literary readings, and discussions.
Visiting authors engage with historical and politically significant sites, gaining insights from local artists and activists. This immersive experience aims to broaden participants' perspectives and inspire their creative endeavors. With past themes exploring the intersections of colonization and global capitalism, PalFest released its first anthology, This Is Not A Border, and continues to publish works that reflect its core mission.
The festival not only showcases literature but also amplifies the discourse around Palestine's political landscape and cultural identity on a global stage
