About Palheta Bendita
Palheta Bendita is a free world music festival in Santo Tirso, Portugal, organised by Associação Cultural Tirsense. Rooted in the association’s work teaching and promoting traditional popular instruments, particularly the hurdy-gurdy and bagpipes, the festival brings together music and cultural practices from around the world. Its 2026 programme features concerts by Portuguese and international artists, including Alma Menor, O Gajo, BCUC, Baque Flores do Porto, Sopa de Pedra and DHOAD Gypsies of Rajasthan, alongside DJ sets, a clown performance and a community gathering.
Visitors can also take part in workshops exploring instruments and traditions such as accordion, bagpipes, Indian tablas, adufe, maracatu and traditional songs, or attend a workshop to build cabeçudos. An exhibition and musical instrument makers’ fair add further opportunities to discover music and craftsmanship. Held at Parque Urbano de Geão and nearby venues, Palheta Bendita offers food with vegetarian and omnivorous choices.
The festival promotes inclusion and environmental care, with recycling, water access and reusable cups encouraged
