Palmetto Ultras

Palmetto Ultras is a Charleston, South Carolina-based trail running brand dedicated to making the Lowcountry’s woods welcoming to runners of all experience levels. Founded by Kayla Fitzgerald, the organization took over several established local races in 2024 to keep trail running events in the Charleston area. Its mission is to inspire people to embrace the trails, encourage experienced runners to reach new goals, and build lasting community connections.

Palmetto Ultras organizes races ranging from shorter 5K and 10K distances to challenging ultra-distance events, with offerings that include Frozen:H3, Hallucination, Hell Hole, Dirt Dash, Swamp Fox, and Cannonball. The brand also hosts weekly group trail runs and course previews, giving newcomers and seasoned runners opportunities to explore local routes together. Event guides, registration, and race updates are available through its website, alongside volunteer opportunities and community information. Through its related Endurance Nutrition business, Fitzgerald, a registered dietitian, also helps runners learn how to fuel their training and everyday lives.
