Palus Demos is a four-year Horizon Europe project exploring paludiculture, also known as wetlands farming, as a sustainable approach to Europe’s agricultural future. The project investigates how rewetted peatlands can be used productively while helping preserve peat soils and minimise carbon dioxide emissions. Through large-scale demonstration sites across Europe, Palus Demos trials crops, shares practical learning and examines how markets for wetland products can be developed.
The project brings together partners from farming, industry, academia and policymaking. Its resources are designed for farmers, researchers, policymakers, industry and agribusiness, and include practice abstracts, reports and journal articles. An interactive map helps visitors explore the project’s demonstration sites, while a video introduces partners, crops and market development work. Palus Demos also shares news, research and opportunities through email newsletters and social media, and invites people to learn about participation in paludiculture. By connecting research with practical demonstrations and sector-specific information, the project aims to build understanding of wetlands farming and its potential across Europe.
