Pamela S. Turner

Pamela S. Turner is a renowned children's author who has a passion for animals. From a young age, she loved both writing and wildlife, growing up with a dog and a cage full of doves.

Pamela's love for animals led her to spend a year in Nairobi, Kenya, where she had the opportunity to witness Africa's diverse wildlife. With a background in Social Science and a Master of Public Health, Pamela has also worked as a legislative assistant and an international health consultant. Together with her husband, she has lived in various countries, including South Africa, Japan, and the Marshall Islands, where they raised their three children, each born in a different country.

Pamela's writing career started when she lived in Japan, where she heard the heartwarming story of Hachiko. Inspired by this tale, she decided to become a writer and share Hachiko's story with English-speaking children. Since then, Pamela has authored several captivating books, such as Gorilla Doctors, The Frog Scientist, and Crow Smarts.

Her writing not only entertains but also educates children about the wonders of the natural world. Currently dividing her time between Oakland, California, Newberg, Oregon, and Tokyo, Japan, Pamela enjoys scuba diving, snow skiing, and practicing kendo. In addition to her writing, she volunteers as a wildlife rehabilitator, specializing in raising orphaned crows and ravens at the Lindsay Wildlife Hospital in Walnut Creek, CA.
