Papegaaienopvang

Stichting Papegaaienopvang Friesland is an animal-welfare foundation dedicated to parrots and parakeets that have lost their homes, experienced neglect, or can no longer be cared for by their owners. It provides a safe, supportive environment with suitable housing, nutritious food, patience, daily attention, and medical guidance when needed. For the health and safety of birds in its care, the foundation requests testing for relevant avian diseases before placement. In urgent cases, it may provide quarantine support.

Where appropriate, the foundation arranges permanent care or carefully considered rehoming, matching each bird with a home that understands its needs. It also educates current and prospective owners about nutrition, housing, enrichment, and social contact, offering practical, welfare-focused advice. The foundation highlights its own Feather Fiesta food mix for Pyrrhura parrots and other Aratinga species, available through Janets Dierenrijk. Supported by volunteers, animal lovers, and donors, Stichting Papegaaienopvang Friesland works to give every bird a chance at a safer, healthier life.
