Paper Bird is a children’s bookshop and arts centre in Fremantle, Western Australia, dedicated to helping children discover and create stories. Its specialist, carefully curated collection features children’s books, with a focus on Australian writers and illustrators and a particularly extensive selection of Indigenous Australian children’s books. Customers can shop in store or online, explore new releases, and use the curated gift registry service to build a child’s library with help from family and friends.

Beyond bookselling, Paper Bird offers a lively programme of cultural and creative activities, including story times, book launches, exhibitions, art workshops, and book, reading, and subscription clubs. Its schools and libraries services include author and illustrator excursions and incursions, as well as book purchasing. The organisation also provides specialist therapeutic services for children and adults through its clinical services. Paper Bird’s Illustration Exhibition and Thames & Hudson Illustration Award celebrate the role of visual storytelling and illustration. Open daily, the hub brings books, arts, learning, and community together for young readers and their families.
