Papillons H2020 is a research project supported by the European Commission under the EU Horizon 2020 program. With a consortium of 20 partners from 12 countries, Papillons focuses on studying the impacts and life-cycles of plastic pollution in agricultural production. The project aims to fill knowledge gaps regarding the sources, behavior, and ecological effects of micro- and nanoplastics in agricultural soils resulting from the use of agricultural plastics.

By understanding the long-term impacts of these materials on soil ecosystem quality and agricultural sustainability, Papillons aims to contribute to enhanced sustainability and healthy soils. Through a multi-actor approach, the project aims to become a "one-stop-shop" for easily digestible information on plastic pollution in agricultural soils, particularly micro and nanoplastics. This research project is at the forefront of addressing environmental concerns in agricultural practices, bringing together experts in various disciplines to develop innovative solutions for a more sustainable future
