Paramédicos de Catástrofe Internacional (PCI) is a Portuguese humanitarian and medical aid organization supporting communities affected by emergencies around the world. It provides assistance in situations including armed conflict, natural or human-caused disasters, epidemics, famine, and social exclusion, particularly where help is scarce or unavailable. Alongside emergency response, PCI undertakes longer-term work with refugees and populations facing prolonged conflict, chronic instability, or the aftermath of disasters.
Its activities include medical and pre-hospital support, civil protection, social assistance, emergency humanitarian missions, and volunteer programs. PCI also provides training, with recognition for courses in areas such as emergency care and civil protection. The organization describes itself as a public-benefit institution, a social solidarity institution, and a nongovernmental organization focused on humanitarian aid and environmental issues. It also participates in refugee-support and international cooperation networks.
Based in Portugal, PCI maintains a 24-hour operating schedule across the country and invites people to learn about its missions, volunteer, or support its humanitarian work.
