Parco Paesaggistico Lauretum is a landscape park in Loreto Aprutino, in the province of Pescara, located a short distance from the town’s historic centre. Created through a major landscape restoration project, it brings back a piece of the local rural landscape and offers visitors an opportunity to explore its gardens and natural features. The park includes the Giardino dei Ligustri, an arboretum with medicinal plants, Mediterranean gardens and a panoramic olive grove.
Its areas of botanical and natural interest are presented through educational activities, events and guided visits. The park also hosts the regional Environmental Education Centre “Giardino dei Ligustri,” recognised in 2017, and publishes videos and reports about its landscapes and restoration work. Guided experiences include walks through the gardens and visits combining the park with Loreto Aprutino’s historic village or the church of Santa Maria in Piano.
The organisation is associated with Ilex – Arte dei Giardini, which offers restoration of historic gardens and landscapes. The park is curated by Dr Alberto Colazilli
