Parcul Natural București

Asociația Parcul Natural București (APNB) is a Romanian nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting urban nature and promoting biodiversity across Bucharest. Formerly the Asociația Parcul Natural Văcărești, it builds on a decade of work that helped establish Văcărești Natural Park, an urban natural area of 183 hectares. Its expanded mission focuses on conserving and promoting natural spaces throughout the capital, including the Dâmbovița Delta, Băneasa Forest, Petricani Meadow, Valea Saulei and wetlands around Dobroești, as well as encouraging greener, more resilient parks and streets.

The association supports conservation, ecosystem restoration and public awareness through projects, practical environmental education and community involvement. Its activities include observing and monitoring wildlife and plants, species documentation, patrols and cleanups. It also provides educational resources, such as an activity guide for students and teachers, with workshops and exercises designed to foster understanding of biodiversity. Volunteers and supporters can contribute to protecting the city’s remaining natural areas. Through these efforts, APNB seeks to connect people with nature and promote healthier, more nature-friendly urban communities.
