Associazione Parkinson Valle d’Aosta is a community association founded by people affected by Parkinson’s disease and their family members. Guided by the motto “Never alone,” it brings patients, relatives and caregivers together to share experiences, better understand the condition and reduce the isolation that can affect entire families. The association offers mutual support and opportunities to discuss practical challenges, with the aim of helping members find constructive ways to cope with the disease and its effects on daily life.
Its activities have included regular gatherings for patients and families, information sessions with social and psychological professionals, and the “Riprenditi la mente, riprenditi il corpo” programme developed with local partner associations supporting people affected by stroke, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The programme has featured activities to maintain cognitive and communication skills, biodance and neuropsychological support for family members. During periods when in-person meetings were suspended, the association shared videos with cognitive exercises and guidance for managing anxiety and psychological difficulties.
