About parquelimpopo.gov.mz
Limpopo National Park is a protected wilderness area in the Massingir district of Mozambique’s Gaza Province. Established in 2001 through collaboration between the Mozambican government and Peace Parks Foundation, it forms part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, linking conservation areas in Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The park offers visitors opportunities to experience its landscapes and wildlife through guided trails, game viewing, birding, cultural activities and 4x4 self-drive routes.
Wildlife includes elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, impala and lions, although sightings may be less frequent than in neighbouring Kruger National Park as the park continues to develop and wildlife returns to the area. Accommodation options include self-catering chalets, campsites and 4x4 camps, with additional tourism facilities planned. Visitors can also enjoy walks and boat trips.
The park provides practical visitor information, including access routes, opening hours, rates and a downloadable map. Its conservation work includes wildlife relocation and community benefit-sharing, with 20% of park revenues allocated to local communities
