The Partnership for Drug-Free Communities is a community-based coalition working to address substance use in Madison and St. Clair counties and surrounding Illinois communities. Formed in 2016 through the merger of the Drug-Free Coalitions of Madison County and the Madison County Heroin Task Force, it brings together organizations and individuals to assess local drug trends and develop a comprehensive strategic plan. Community members from all sectors are welcome to participate in coalition meetings and projects.
The partnership uses a Strategic Prevention Framework, supported by a needs assessment and logic model, to guide its work. Its website connects residents with current information and local resources, including prevention and education materials, signs and symptoms of substance use, treatment and recovery resources, and law enforcement information. Visitors can also find meeting agendas and minutes, calendars, statistics, downloadable data summaries, newsletters, and links to the Illinois Helpline. The coalition highlights agencies that provide naloxone (NARCAN) and training free of charge, subject to available supplies, and shares information about related laws and community support options.
