About Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety
The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety (PASS) is a Government of Pakistan ministry focused on poverty reduction and social protection. It works through attached organisations and national programmes to support low-income households and improve access to assistance, education, nutrition and opportunities for economic advancement. Its associated institutions include the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund and the Trust for Voluntary Organizations.
Key programmes listed by the ministry include Benazir Kafaalat, Benazir Nashonuma, Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, the Benazir National Socio-Economic Registry and the Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship. The ministry also highlights the National Poverty Graduation Programme, which focuses on pathways to sustainable livelihoods. Its website provides programme information, news, notifications, policy and research downloads, tenders, job listings and public contact details. Recent updates include the launch of Benazir Social Protection Accounts and a new BISP payment mechanism through bank accounts. Through this work, PASS coordinates and communicates government initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty and strengthening social safety in Pakistan.
