Institut Pasteur is a biomedical research organisation dedicated to advancing science and protecting health. Its work spans the research continuum, from fundamental studies of biology and infectious diseases to the development of therapeutic, vaccine and diagnostic approaches, clinical evaluation, and public health support. Researchers use multidisciplinary methods and technologies including microscopy, biobanking, organoids and artificial intelligence. The organisation also contributes to disease surveillance through national reference laboratories and World Health Organization collaborating centres, helping monitor epidemics and inform health authorities in France and internationally.

Institut Pasteur translates discoveries into potential applications for patients, works with its medical centre and hospital partners, and provides consultations and vaccinations. Education is another core activity: it offers more than 40 training programmes each year and online courses, while supporting students and health professionals. Through the Pasteur Network, it collaborates with member institutes across 26 countries. The organisation also supports scientific research through public donations, legacies, partnerships with companies and foundations, and investment in innovation, patents and entrepreneurship.
