About Patricia Backley
Pat Backley is an Auckland, New Zealand-based author whose work explores social history, family ancestry, travel and the experiences of ordinary people. After a colourful life, she began writing at 69, driven by a belief that the stories of people who might otherwise go unheard deserve to be told. Her books span several genres, including historical and ancestry-inspired fiction, memoir, travel writing, practical guidance and mystery.
Titles include the Daisy novels, the ancestry series beginning with Valentine George, and travel memoirs such as Seventy Years Worth of Travel. Her publications also include The Abandoned Wives Handbook, Was He A Perfect Gentleman? and the whodunnit Death In The Rhododendrons. Backley has co-authored The Warrior Women Project: A Sisterhood of Immigrant Women and Relatable Voices.
Her latest listed releases include Different Times, Different Rules and Is Travel Still Fun In Your Seventies? She continues to develop new titles and is available for in-person and virtual writing, speaking and consulting engagements
