About Pat Kerr
Pat Kerr is a game programmer, maker, and occasional writer based in Dundee, Scotland. With professional experience dating to 1995 and earlier amateur work, Kerr has contributed to notable games and technologies, including the vehicle physics system for the original Grand Theft Auto, programming leadership on Wild Metal Country, engine support for Crackdown, and engine leadership on APB: All Points Bulletin. Kerr also spent 15 years working in Iceland, primarily on EVE Online and later on Pax Dei at Mainframe Industries.
Now operating as a free agent, Kerr shares practical expertise through projects, experiments, and educational resources. These include a free computer game programming course, with video lectures and slides, and a guide to building 2D games from scratch using JavaScript and HTML Canvas. Motion Lab, a browser-based recreation of an early vehicle physics prototype, lets visitors explore steering, sliding, and collisions.
The site also features writing, work details, and personal recommendations, bringing together Kerr’s interests in game development, technology, and cinema
