Atelier Paul Arène

Atelier Paul Arène is a French landscape design studio with roots in the south of France and a history dating to 1988. Founded by garden enthusiast Paul Arène, the workshop moved to the Angevine region to focus on public projects, later building a team in Montreuil-sur-Maine. In 2024, Paul Arène handed the studio to Anne-Sophie Malary, who continues its work with a united team and a shared commitment to people, place and biodiversity.

The studio combines landscape design with operational project management, working to bring architecture and landscape, city and nature together. Its projects include parks, urban spaces, mixed gardens, playful and educational gardens, and large-scale commercial landscapes. The Atoll project in Angers is a notable example, recognized for its dense planting and considered stormwater management. Atelier Paul Arène also contributes to competitions and public consultation, and supports gardeners on site during the early years of a project, helping them care for and develop the designed spaces.
