About Pay The Rent Grassroots Collective
Pay The Rent Grassroots Collective is a national initiative founded by both First Nations and non-First Nations people, operating from the lands of the Kulin Nation in Victoria, Australia. The Collective embraces the concept of Pay The Rent, a grassroots movement aimed at honoring Aboriginal sovereignty and ensuring that financial contributions are directed to support First Nations communities. This initiative engages everyday Australians to acknowledge the historical injustices and share financial resources directly with Indigenous grassroots causes.
The organization is structured under a ‘Sovereign Body, Administration Arm’ model, where First Nations representatives oversee fund allocation, ensuring transparency and community-centered decision-making. The Administrative Arm manages logistics, website inquiries, and growth initiatives, encouraging participation from individuals, organizations, and businesses. Pay The Rent not only serves as a source of financial support for critical initiatives, such as a Funeral Fund, but also advocates for treaty rights and land justice.
This not-for-profit movement seeks to create a meaningful impact by redirecting wealth while fostering understanding and collaboration in the pursuit of justice for Aboriginal peoples
