We invest in ambitious and substantive work that showcases our region’s artistic vitality and enhances public life. We also engage in a robust exchange of ideas on evolving artistic and interpretive practices with an international network of creators and cultural leaders. Established in 2005, the Center is funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts and administered by The University of the Arts, Philadelphia.

The Center annually awards Project grants in Performance and Exhibitions & Public Interpretation, making thousands of performing arts events, exhibitions, and other public programs possible. They also provide Fellowships to support exemplary local artists in their artistic and career goals. Through their extensive knowledge-sharing activities, such as the Questions of Practice series and publications, the Center sparks ideas and deepens conversations within a broad and diverse creative community.
