Portland International Airport (PDX) is undergoing a transformative $2 billion enhancement project, known as PDX Next, aimed at redefining the travel experience while embracing the spirit of the Pacific Northwest. Set to be completed in 2025, this ambitious project will significantly expand the main terminal, nearly doubling the space dedicated to ticketing and lobby areas. Designed by local architects, the new terminal features a stunning wood-lattice ceiling inspired by the region's lush landscapes, setting a welcoming atmosphere adorned with live trees and natural light.
PDX Next also prioritizes sustainability and community engagement, providing more opportunities for local shops and eateries. Travelers can look forward to 20 new local businesses, including iconic establishments like Loyal Legion and Grassa. In addition, ground transportation improvements streamline access with on-site rental cars and enhanced bike paths.
With modern amenities like abundant seating, natural decor, and art installations reflecting local culture, the revamped PDX emphasizes comfort, efficiency, and a unique connection to the Pacific Northwest.
