Peace Brigades International (PBI) is a brand that is dedicated to the protection and support of human rights defenders around the world. We believe that lasting transformation of conflicts can only come from within, based on the capacity and desires of local people. We avoid imposing or interfering in the work of the individuals we accompany.

Instead, we take an integrated approach, providing a presence alongside human rights defenders on the ground while also utilizing our extensive network of international support. With over 40 years of experience, PBI has worked in 14 countries, including Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, and Nepal, providing a life-saving international presence during times of conflict and repression. We are also a powerful global advocacy network, fighting for the protection and rights of those on the ground.

PBI's principles are grounded in non-violence, non-partisanship, and an international character. We work in collaboration with local organizations and make decisions through consensus. Our services include protective accompaniment, international observation, advocacy, awareness raising, and capacity development.
