The Peace Process: Layers of Meaning is a pioneering initiative focused on preserving and sharing the oral histories and experiences of individuals affected by the Northern Irish conflict. Founded by Seán McConville and Anna Bryson, this project began with the ambitious goal of creating a heritage archive comprised of one hundred interviews, coupled with a narrative history of conflict resolution efforts.
Collaborating with various historical and community organizations, the project has evolved into a multifaceted program that disseminates essential social research skills and promotes community engagement, especially in the border region. It aims to document the voices of ordinary people who have lived through times of turmoil, ensuring that their stories supplement and enrich the historical narrative beyond the political realm.
Supported under the EU's PEACE III funding, the project successfully fosters dialogue among diverse groups, facilitating understanding and reconciliation. With the commitment to creating self-sustaining educational resources, The Peace Process: Layers of Meaning stands as an invaluable tool for both national and international audiences.
