Peace Tree Parks | Detroit MI

Peace Tree Parks is a non-profit organization based in Detroit, MI, dedicated to transforming the city's vacant land into vibrant community gardens. Founded in 2015, their mission is to increase access to fresh organic produce for Metro Detroit residents. They achieve this through two programs: the residential garden program and the community garden program.

These programs work in tandem to provide gardening opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds, regardless of race, age, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. At present, Peace Tree Parks owns and has converted a total of 11 vacant lots in Detroit, thanks to its partnership with the Detroit Land Bank Authority. Through their community gardens, they actively demonstrate and educate residents about gardening, with the ultimate goal of inspiring them to start their own gardens.

They currently have three community garden locations. The dedicated team at Peace Tree Parks consists of Eric Andrews, the Co-Founder and Executive Director, who brings a background in engineering, project management, and community development. D'Andre Riggins, the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, has a finance and public service background.

Lastly, Brianna Andrews is the Director of Marketing & Communications, leveraging her expertise in marketing, sales, communications, branding, PR, and coaching. By fostering community engagement and providing resources, Peace Tree Parks is creating a sustainable and inclusive environment that empowers residents to take control of their food sources and embrace the benefits of gardening.
