Pedal Power MN

Pedal Power MN is a school-based biking program that helps children learn to ride and discover the confidence, connection, and adventure that biking can offer. Inspired by two teachers who recognized that many children had never learned to ride a bike, the program works to make bike education accessible and inclusive. Its “Learn to Bike, Bike to Learn” approach combines instruction with hands-on experiences, including group rides and school field trips.

Pedal Power provides bike fleets and tailors instruction to the schedules and needs of individual schools, at no cost to schools or students. Participants build riding skills while practicing navigation, problem-solving, and basic bicycle care and maintenance. The program also uses tandem and other adaptive bikes so students with different needs can take part alongside classmates and teachers. Rides can introduce students to cultural, historical, and recreational resources in their city, while encouraging camaraderie and friendships. By reducing barriers to participation, Pedal Power supports physical activity and helps students develop a foundation for lifelong outdoor exploration.
