Contornoviola

Contorno Viola is a volunteer organization founded in Verbania in 1992 and recognized nationally for its work in peer education and, more recently, peer and media education. The organization develops prevention and health-promotion initiatives that involve young people as active contributors, rather than treating them simply as recipients of information. Its approach combines shared experiences, emotional and experiential learning, and support from adults to encourage social connection and positive behavior among peers.

Contorno Viola works with schools and communities on issues including relationships and sexual health, violence and emotional dependency, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, unintended pregnancies, sexting, bullying and cyberbullying, substance use, safe driving, gambling, and digital media. It supports educational projects, trains peer educators, teachers, and practitioners, and provides resources such as manuals for educators. Its peer and media education programs help schools create opportunities for young people to reflect, learn, and support one another. Based in Verbania, the organization also shares news and learning materials and participates in initiatives such as the Interreg UP2Peer project.
