PEFINDO is Indonesia's oldest and most trusted credit rating agency, specializing in rating entities and their debt instruments listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Established in 1993 under the initiative of the Financial Services Authority of Indonesia, PEFINDO has rated over 1100 entities and various capital market instruments including conventional bonds, subordinated bonds, sukuk, medium-term notes, asset-backed securities, and mutual funds. PEFINDO has also played a crucial role in developing the municipal bond market in Indonesia, with the support of the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.

Through a strategic alliance with Standard & Poor's, PEFINDO has adopted international rating methodology. PEFINDO has diversified its operations by introducing services like PEFINDO25, a stock index comprising selected small- and medium-sized companies, SME Rating, and PEFINDO i-Grade index. To ensure its independence, PEFINDO is owned by a consortium of 79 legal entities, with no single shareholder owning more than 50 percent.
