Pegasus Universal Aerospace is a South African aviation company established in 2012 and headquartered in Johannesburg, with legal entities in the United States and United Kingdom. It is designing the Vertical Business Jet (VBJ), which it intends to manufacture as a first-of-its-kind aircraft for civil aviation. The VBJ is designed to combine vertical takeoff and landing with business-jet speed and range. According to the company, it can use helipads, unpaved surfaces, conventional runways and yachts, with design features intended to enhance safety and convenience.

Pegasus’s work spans conceptual design, engineering, flight-control systems and flight testing. Its Road Jet emerged as a human-studies exercise to explore cabin form and function. The company’s broader focus includes aviation innovation, sustainable aircraft and manufacturing approaches informed by biomimicry, and reducing development and production costs. Pegasus also aims to pursue FAA and EASA certification and collaborate with international partners on sales, maintenance and service infrastructure. Its stated mission is to advance private passenger air travel through improved mobility, performance, safety and convenience.
