The Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Units (PEHSUs) are a national network of experts dedicated to improving reproductive and children's health through the integration of environmental health into clinical care and public health practices. With ten units covering different regions of the United States, the PEHSUs are a trusted source of medical information and advice on environmental conditions that impact health from preconception through adolescence.

Children are particularly vulnerable to the health effects of environmental hazards due to their rapid development and unique characteristics. The PEHSUs work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, communities, and government agencies to raise awareness, provide guidance, and offer practical advice on preventing and reducing harmful environmental exposures. They also offer health professional training, consult on medical management, and refer as necessary to specialty care.

Supported by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, the PEHSUs strive to create healthy environments for all children while addressing historical injustices and environmental racism. Their mission is to ensure the health of children and families by combating climate change and reducing environmental risks.
