Peiner Freischießen is a long-standing public festival in Peine, Germany, celebrated as the town’s “fifth season. ” Held on the first weekend in July, with the main occasion associated with the first Sunday, it brings residents and visitors together at the Peiner Schützenplatz. The festival combines music, fairground rides for children and adults, food stalls, and performances by marching bands and music groups.

A central feature is the participation of seven Freischießen corporations, which preserve the event’s traditions and cultural heritage. Their processions create a prominent part of the festivities, while competitions and ceremonies recognize the festival’s kings and other shooting results. The official Peiner Freischießen website provides event information, dates, a calendar, news, press reports, photo albums, and an archive.

Visitors can also find information about the corporations, festival dignitaries, and competitions including the Bürgerkönigsschießen, Silberbarrenschießen, Grüne Band, and Schafferschießen. A newsletter offers a way to follow current updates, and the site also shares information about the Förderverein and Sundern shooting range
