About Pelled Lab
The Pelled Lab at Michigan State University is a pioneering research facility dedicated to advancing our understanding of neuroplasticity mechanisms that enable the brain to reshape its functions following injury. The lab’s innovative research covers a range of critical topics, including octopus-inspired bionics, translational research, magnetogenetics, neuromodulation, and epilepsy. By utilizing various animal models of neurological disorders such as peripheral nerve injury and traumatic brain injury, the Pelled Lab seeks to identify and analyze the neuroplasticity processes that facilitate recovery and behavior change.
A key focus of their work involves the development of novel genetic-based neuromodulation strategies, allowing researchers to remotely control neuronal function and optimize post-injury plasticity. The lab is at the forefront of research, as evidenced by recent breakthroughs in alleviating epileptic seizures through magnetogenetics. The Pelled Lab's commitment to enhancing neurological recovery through scientific innovation promises to deliver transformative insights into brain function and rehabilitation strategies.
