About People For Pets
People for Pets is an animal rescue and adoption organization based in Spencer, Iowa, helping pets find loving homes and families find compatible companions. Its work centers on giving animals safety, care, and a fresh start through rescue, adoption, and community support. The organization offers cat and dog adoptions, guides prospective adopters through its adoption process, and helps people who have lost or need to rehome pets. It also supports community cats through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR).
People for Pets relies on donations and volunteers to help provide animals with food, shelter, and medical care. Supporters can contribute monetary gifts, memorials and tributes, or items from the organization’s wish lists. Volunteers assist with animal care, daily shelter tasks, and events. The organization also shares upcoming activities, including its annual Petoberfest celebration, and works alongside community partners and supporters. Located at 2312 Highway Blvd in Spencer, People for Pets is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; appointments outside those hours require an approved application.
