Peoria Park District is the oldest and largest park district in Illinois, spanning nearly 60 square miles. We pride ourselves on providing easy access to our parks and recreational programs, which have been shown to improve physical and psychological health. In fact, 88% of residents believe that Peoria Park District plays a vital role in community health.

With over 50 miles of hiking and biking trails, our parks system and nature centers offer ample opportunities to explore the great outdoors. We also have a variety of facilities and events throughout the community to keep you engaged and active, including Peoria Zoo, Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum, Luthy Botanical Garden, and Owens Center for year-round ice skating. Additionally, our state-of-the-art RiverPlex fitness center focuses on promoting healthy and active lifestyles.
