The PEP offers a streamlined process for Portuguese citizens and residents to apply for and obtain a passport, ensuring convenience and security.

Services include various passport types, such as the standard passport, special diplomatic passport, and frequent traveler passport. Applicants are required to present valid identification and undergo biometric data collection including a facial image and fingerprints, all conducted using specialized equipment.

Passports can be applied for at multiple locations, including consulates, airports in Lisbon and Porto, and local citizen service centers. Processing times range from one day for urgent requests to five days for standard applications, with options for expedited delivery. The PEP reflects Portugal's commitment to efficient travel documentation while celebrating its cultural legacy, making it essential for anyone traveling abroad.
