Perhekoti Koramo is a family-style care home in Kuusamo, Finland, providing round-the-clock care and aftercare for children and young people who need a supportive, professionally guided environment. The home has seven places for residents aged 7 to 18, with an individual bedroom for each child. Its approach is based on creating a close, corrective relationship and maintaining everyday life as normally as possible.
Care is tailored to each resident and includes support with schooling, daily living skills, health, upbringing and behavioural challenges. The team also helps children and young people take part in activities and clubs that interest them, individually or in groups. Kuusamo offers opportunities for year-round recreation, including outdoor trips in summer and skiing at the Ruka resort in winter; the home may also arrange holidays in Finland and occasionally abroad.
Two fully equipped apartments near the home provide young people with a place to practise independent living and everyday skills. Perhekoti Koramo also offers aftercare and open-care services, supporting young people as they progress toward greater independence.
