Persian Playing Cards

Persian Playing Cards Company revives Persian card artistry through designs inspired by the region’s history, language, and visual traditions. Its first collection, AKINAKA, draws on historic Persian playing cards while reimagining them for contemporary use. Rather than reproduce the originals, the company redesigns borders, typography, layouts, and symbols to balance historical character with readability and playability. The cards also incorporate custom type design, including attention to Farsi and Arabic lettering, and are intended to be enjoyed at the table as well as collected.

The company’s shop offers individual playing-card decks, including the AKINAKA First Edition collector’s deck, and gift-wrapped sets of two decks. Its wider product range includes heritage-inspired apparel and framed prints featuring Persian art. Through its products and storytelling, Persian Playing Cards Company shares aspects of Persian design history and presents playing cards as art made for everyone. The project grew from the founder’s research and restoration of historic decks into an original collection, with the aim of encouraging people to play, explore the artwork, and connect with Persian cultural heritage.
