About Personality Project
The Personality Project is an academic resource dedicated to the scientific study of personality and individual differences. Started in 1995, it is a joint project of members of the Personality, Motivation and Cognition laboratory at Northwestern University, created to support researchers, students, and curious readers. The site brings together historical reviews, introductions to personality theories, links to current research, academic journals, research labs, scholarly organizations, conferences, and graduate training programs.
It also offers course syllabi and learning materials on research methods, psychometrics, statistics, and the use of R in personality research, including tutorials on statistical procedures. Topics span personality taxonomies such as the Big Five, cognitive abilities, biological and genetic influences, development, and social and cultural factors. Visitors can also take part in the free, anonymous SAPA survey, which assesses temperament, cognitive abilities, and interests and provides personalized comparisons with participants of similar age and gender.
The project is a collaborative, evolving collection that welcomes suggestions and corrections to its educational links and resources
