About PESCO-UP
PESCO-UP is a Horizon Europe project revolutionizing the textile recycling industry by creating new raw materials from mixed wastes, reducing reliance on virgin materials. This ambitious project, funded by the European Union, aims to ensure full circularity in the textile recycling value chain. Processes include digitalized material identification, data sharing for recycling, pre-treatment, mechanical and chemical separation, and utilization of cellulose and polyester fractions.
PESCO-UP's holistic approach tackles market barriers, enhancing workforce skills and knowledge, raising market acceptance, and facilitating technology transfer and exploitation. Led by VTT, a prominent research and technology company in Finland, the EU-wide consortium covers the entire textile recycling life-cycle. Through innovation and collaboration, PESCO-UP is reshaping perceptions, making the textile industry more attractive and environmentally sustainable.
