de Pessebristes de Barcelona

The Associació de Pessebristes de Barcelona is a Barcelona-based association devoted to nativity scenes and the art of pessebrisme. Its roots reach back to the nineteenth century: the earliest known published notice of a society of Barcelona nativity-scene makers appeared in the Diario de Barcelona on 9 February 1862, and the association presents 1863 as part of its history. The group brings together people who enjoy creating, studying and sharing nativity scenes, and welcomes those interested in learning the craft or contributing their skills.

Its activities include courses in nativity-scene making, a nativity-scene competition, and the creation of monumental scenes each year. Visitors can explore a photographic gallery featuring displays at the association’s premises and images of its larger projects; the collection is being gradually organised and digitised. The association also shares updates about its activities through social media and invites volunteers to help with areas such as miniatures, restoration, archives, technology, carpentry and administration. Its premises are at Carrer dels Lledó 11 in Barcelona.
