Pete Cardinal Outfitters

Pete Cardinal Outfitters is a full-time fly-fishing guide service specializing in the Missouri River below Holter Dam in Montana. Formerly known as Missouri River Angler, the outfit has guided exclusively on this blue-ribbon trout river for 35 years and describes itself as the river’s longest-running full-time outfitting service. Its central offering is guided angling with Pete Cardinal and a team of local guides who focus on this challenging stretch of water. The guides follow changing weather, streamflows, seasonal conditions, and insect hatches to help clients make the most of their time on the river.

The service emphasizes both catching trout and building lasting fly-fishing skills. Pete provides angling instruction intended to improve clients’ technique and understanding, with lessons that can be applied on trout waters beyond Montana. The outfitter’s website also provides information about river conditions, rates, lodging, gear, and the Missouri River fishery. Based in Wolf Creek, Montana, Pete Cardinal Outfitters invites anglers to experience the river with knowledgeable guides and a strong focus on learning.
