About Peter Turchin
Peter Turchin is a pioneering complexity scientist and the founder of cliodynamics, an innovative field that integrates historical data and mathematical models to analyze the dynamics of human societies over the long term. He holds key academic positions including Faculty and Project Leader at the Social Complexity & Collapse Complexity Science Hub in Vienna and Research Associate at the University of Oxford. Turchin's extensive research delves into social and cultural evolution, exploring themes such as large-scale cooperation, societal resilience, and periods of political instability.
He co-founded the Seshat: Global History Databank, which provides comparative data on societies throughout history, enhancing the understanding of social complexity.
